Overview

The Kashmir Great Lakes & Gangabal Pass Expedition is one of India’s most stunning alpine treks, leading through a chain of crystal-clear mountain lakes surrounded by snow-capped peaks and lush meadows. Starting near Sonamarg, the trail unfolds through breathtaking landscapes, crossing high passes and picturesque valleys. Each day reveals a new jewel — from Vishansar and Krishansar to the twin lakes of Gangabal. This trek is a perfect blend of adventure and serenity, offering trekkers an unforgettable experience in the pristine wilderness of the Himalayas.

Itinerary

    • Accommodation:

      Overnight in Delhi.

    • Upon arrival, meet our Indian representative and transfer to the hotel. Short orientation and free evening at leisure.

    • Accommodation:

      Overnight in Srinagar.

    • Altitude:

       1,585M

    • Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir. Meet our local team and transfer to the hotel or traditional houseboat on Dal Lake. Enjoy a Shikara ride in the evening and explore local markets.

    • Accommodation:

      Overnight in camp.

    • After breakfast, drive to Sonamarg (approx. 3 hrs), the starting point of the trek. Begin your first day’s trek through pine forests and meadows, following the Sindh River. Gradual ascent to Nichnai Valley.
      Trek: 5–6 hrs 

    • Accommodation:

      Overnight in camp.

    • Pass the twin lakes of Vishansar and Krishansar before ascending to Gadsar Pass, the highest point of the trek. Spectacular views of the lakes and distant peaks before descending to Gadsar Lake. Trek: 6–7 hrs

    • Walk through alpine meadows and small ridges to the beautiful Satsar Lakes, a cluster of seven serene alpine lakes surrounded by wildflowers and grazing meadows.
      Trek: 5–6 hrs 

    • Accommodation:

      Overnight in camp near Gangabal Lake.

    • Cross boulder-strewn trails and ascend to Zaj Pass for panoramic Himalayan views. Descend to the Gangabal and Nundkol twin lakes, located at the base of Mount Harmukh (5,142 m).
      Trek: 6–7 hrs

    • Accommodation:

      Overnight in Srinagar (hotel/houseboat).

    • Descend gradually through pine forests and open pastures to reach Naranag village, known for its ancient Shiva temple ruins. Drive back to Srinagar. Trek: 5 hrs

    • Accommodation:

      Overnight in Delhi.

    • After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Delhi. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy free time for shopping or sightseeing.

    • Morning flight from Delhi to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to your home or onward destination — ending a memorable Himalayan adventure across borders.
